A load-balancing-based on-demand lightpath sharing solution for heterogeneous resources is experimentally demonstrated in a GMPLS-enabled lambda grid testbed. Experimental results show that the end-to-end lightpath can be simultaneously employed by the video streaming application and the data collection application. Moreover, the load centralisation effect caused by lightpath sharing is successfully avoided with the introduction of a load-balancing mechanism.
