A split ring antenna loaded with lumped element capacitors is presented measuring λ/9 at 450 MHz. It is placed over a small artificial magnetic conductor (AMC) to form a very compact, conformal platform tolerant antenna. The overall thickness of the structure is just 15.2mm which is 1/44 of a wavelength at 450 MHz.
