The digital subscriber lines (DSL) re-makes its case as a viable access technology for the multitenant units (MTU) market. An in-building strategy where the central office is connected directly to the MTU, from where voice and data services are delivered to the individual user is illustrated. The cost of silicon for DSL communication processors continues to fall, leading in turn to lower equipment costs. This has made DSL technology more price competitive compared to rival solutions in the backhaul and building area network sectors.
