The acknowledged method for the verification of accuracy of metrology primary standard for line scale is by international comparison of line scale measurement. China actively took part in the international comparison of line scale measurement and made a good result in the first comparison in 1983. However, the international comparison has the disadvantage of complexity and long period, the research on realizing the measurement accuracy verification using self-technical characteristics of metrology primary standard for line scale has application significance. The laser wavelength is source of the value of the metrology primary standard for line scale measurement, wavelength intervals between the laser lines has generally ten times accuracy than that of line scale metrology primary standard. In view of this, a laser line method for accuracy verification of metrology primary standard for line scale is proposed: transforming the length measurement results obtained by different laser lines into frequency values, then the frequency values are compared with the reference values to get the accuracy level of length measurement system directly. A metal line scale with maximum length of 1m is measured by line scale measurement primary standard, accuracy evaluation result obtained by laser line method is confirmed to the result of uncertainty analysis. The laser line method provides supplement method for the accuracy verification of metrology primary standard for line scale measurement. Combining the method with the uncertainty analysis is helpful for the accuracy evaluation of length measurement based on laser with high accuracy also.
