Implicit Demand Response is a mechanism to indirectly shape the energy demand by varying the day-ahead hourly energy prices when imbalance between the electricity supply and demand is forecasted. Such imbalance has been increasingly observed in the recent years due to the proliferation and installed overcapacity of RES. This dictates the need of dynamic pricing business models in order for customers to adapt their consumption to the state of the demand-supply equilibrium. However, in order for such models to be effective, the dynamic pricing information has to be available at all times to the customers to allow for devices operation rescheduling. In addition, the system that delivers the pricing information should be standards-compliant in order to be future-proof and easy to integrate in the fast moving smart-grid platforms environment. The ICT infrastructure presented in this paper facilitates the communication of dynamic pricing information from the retailers to their customers utilizing the OpenADR protocol. Different pricing schemes such as time-of-use and ENTSO-e wholesale price-based dynamic pricing, provide the customers with time-varying electricity rates allowing them to achieve cost efficient operation while relieving grid issues. The ICT is implemented using data from Spanish retailer MIWEnergia and it was integrated with its IT systems in order to be evaluated during pilot testing in the context of DRIMPAC H2020 project.
