As the electric power supplied by solar panel depends on the atmospheric conditions and panel voltage, it is necessary to control the operating points to draw the maximum power. The objective of this paper is to investigate fractional short-circuit current based MPPT. In order to assess the performance of proposed method, MATLAB-SIMULINK software based model incorporating circuit equations of Solar PV cell has been developed. This model is integrated with the boost converter model to drive resistive load. Boost converter operates in closed loop to control current of Solar PV cell such that it delivers maximum power to incandescent lamp. Dynamic performance of Boost converter with current feed-back loop is tested in simulation with perturbation in input voltage, stepped current reference and stepped load variation.
