This study aims to obtain a new fault location scheme for single-phase faults in transmission lines using cross-correlation method. Accurate estimation of fault location is essential for quick restoration of power supply. This scheme utilizes only voltage signal from one-end of the line. Cross-correlation has been applied on faulty voltage signal to get desired features, which are applied to artificial neural network (ANN) to get the location accuracy. The performance of the proposed scheme has been tested under wide variation of fault resistance (Rf ), fault inception angle (FIA) and location. The simulation results show that, this scheme can locate fault with fair degree of accuracy.
