Drivers distraction is one of the main factors of cars accidents nowadays. Distraction might be due to changing radio stations, texting on mobile phones, talking to other passengers or even sleepiness. This paper proposes an Eye-tracking system using camera to monitor the drivers’ behaviour in real time. The camera is placed on the dashboard of the car to keep track of the drivers’ eyes. Viola Jones Algorithm that includes Haar classifiers has been implemented and tested using predefined test scenarios to detect the eyes open and close cases. The results of testing the algorithm on a simulator cockpit that is used to simulate real driving conditions showed correct detection rate of 82%. A brake by wire system based on linear actuator is designed and implemented to stop the car in case of driver‟s distraction case detected that help eliminating car accidents. A mathematical model of a car on road deduced to test the capacity of the autonomous braking system under different testing scenarios considering the safe braking distance in simulation environment. The simulation results showed good response under different emergency situations with a braking force able to stop the vehicle from 100km/hr in 5 seconds.
