Vision-based target tracking technology is one of the hotspots in the field of computer vision currently. It is not only widely used in civil fields, such as autonomous driving and traffic supervision, but also in the field of defense, such as battle-field surveillance and missile guidance. Nowadays, UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) are more and more widely used in the military field and Counter-UAV system is vital to national security. Accurately UAV tracking is obviously important to the Counter-UAV system. Take the advantages of high real-time, high parallelism and low power consumption of FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Arrays), this paper proposed a small target tracking system of UAV based on FPGA platform which mainly benefits from the correlation filtering algorithm. Tested on 5 sequences of UAV tracking, the average accuracy is more than 97%, and the processing speed is 41 fps.
