Aiming at mitigating moving clutter for non-polarimetric Doppler weather radar, this paper proposes a method named the adaptive object-orientated spectral (AOBS) filter. Based on the spectral continuity of precipitation and clutter, the AOBS filter generates a filtering mask implementing on the range-Doppler spectrogram to remove the clutter and noise, and retain the precipitation. Data from a three-beam weather radar whose main-beams have polarimetric measurements are used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the AOBS filter. The proposed method has the potential to be applied in the standard wind profiler.
