After being used for a long time or the working environment changes a lot, the relationship of amplitude and phase among transmit/receive channels of phased array radars may change, which will cause the drop of beam gain, departure of direction and deterioration of the side lobe that will affect the performance of radars. The article proposes a method of channel calibration for phased array radar based on FPGA, which employs the method of monitoring the amplitude and phase of the channels in every single period and calibrates the calibrated values refer to the reference values. This method doesn’t need an additional channel and is based on FPGA, which has the advantages such as high precision, being simple in operation and low cost of hardware. The precision of amplitude can reach 0.001dB and the precision of phase can reach 0. 06°.At the meantime, experiment has been carried out to prove its feasibility.
