This paper creatively select rack section tooth profile of the basic hob as basic rack of harmonic drive. On the basis of the main parameter selection method of the datum tooth profile, this paper presents the optimum design method of the basic rack and the design flow. In this paper, an example is given to verify the correctness and feasibility of the design method of standard tooth profile. It is concluded that the tooth top and tooth root profile of Circular Spline are formed by the tooth top profile of Flexspline, and the tooth profile of the middle segment of Circular Spline is formed by the tooth profile of the middle involutes segment of Flexspline. The results show that the tooth profile can truly realize the full tooth conjugate contact, and can greatly improve the comprehensive performance of harmonic gear drive.
