Power conversion system (PCS) can generally run in grid-connected and island mode. When the utility grid failure occurs, PCS based on virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control strategy can naturally and smoothly transform to island mode, which ensure the power supply reliability of local loads. VSG can provide convenience for the multi-PCS parallel connection. In this paper, the small-signal modelling is used to analyse the transient and steady-state performance of the island operation of VSG controlled PCS, in which the operation with constant impedance loads are focused. The work of this paper has guiding significance for parameter design and island test of PCS. Simulations based on PSCAD / EMTDC have proved the validity of the analysis.
