In this paper, an analysis method of operation overvoltage calculation for DC transmission line based on orthogonal experimentation is introduced. First, determine the influencing factors of operating overvoltage on sound poles when a unipolar ground fault occurs on a DC line. Then, choose the level range of each influencing factor, and use orthogonal tables to arrange simulation calculations. According to the variance analysis results, it gives accurately judges of the influence of each factor, and calculates the operating overvoltage value. This method selects a representative part from all combinations of influencing factors for comprehensive processing which has a simple analysis process and high accuracy, which reduces the calculation workload and improves the efficiency.
