As an effective solution to alleviate the interconnection problem of urban power grids, the structure of back-to-back MMC medium-voltage DC (MMC-MVDC) system is analyzed firstly and the basic control strategies of MMC is discussed. By virtue of the characteristic of time-free sharing of control signals on both sides of back-to-back MMC-MVDC, the regulation of active power, reactive power or DC voltage can be responded by converters on both sides and support for fast switching. On this basis, a coordinated control strategy of rectifier and inverter is implemented to improve the control flexibility, response speed, system availability and reliability. Finally, the proposed control strategy is applied to a flexible interconnection engineering project of distribution network in Zhejiang province, which verifies the feasibility and effectiveness of the method.
