With the rapid development of cities and the increasing requirements of urban aesthetics, high-voltage (HV) power cables have been widely used in the transmission network structure, and have the trend of rapid expansion. However, the failure of HV power cables has also increased, causing great security risks to the transmission grid. In this paper, the dissecting process of HV power cable after fault was summarized, the causes of fault were analyzed step by step, and the fault dissection tree was drawn to provide guidance for unifying the dissecting process and normative fault cause analysis of HV power cable.
