In this paper, according to structural characteristics of converter transformer for multi-terminal VSC-LCC hybrid HVDC project, tank vibration test were carried out during load loss test and no-load loss test in the factory. Vibration characteristics of winding and core were studied. And how influence factors, such as location of sensors, load current, oil temperature and excited voltage, affected the vibration acceleration signals, such as amplitude and proportion of basic frequency component, amplitude and proportion of main frequency component, complexity of frequency domain spectrum, were studied as well. Some conclusions were drawn in the paper: 1) Location of vibration sensors has a great influence on the vibration characteristics, and the vibration of position near center of gravity is the most severe. 2) Amplitude of main frequency (100Hz) component of winding vibration is proportional to the square of the load current. 3) Under the same load current, amplitude of main frequency (100Hz) component increases, and amplitude of 200Hz and 300Hz component decrease as oil temperature rises, but there is no linearity. 4) while excited voltage does not exceed rate voltage, amplitude of basic frequency (100Hz) component and main frequency (200Hz) component of core vibration are in proportion to the square of excited voltage. And core vibration increases exponentially with the square of excited voltage while excited voltage exceeds rate voltage. This paper might provide certain support for fault detection method for converter transformer based on vibration analysis technology.
