In recent years, MMC-HVDC (high-voltage direct current transmission that based on modular multi-level converter) is the key research direction of China's power system. In order to optimize the control strategy of MMC-HVDC system, the fuzzy PI controller is designed by combining fuzzy control and PI (proportional integral) control,that realize the function of real-time adjustment of PI parameters. The simulation model of the double-ended active 31-level MMC-HVDC system was built by using MATLAB/Simulink simulation software which can compare the simulation waveforms between the traditional PI controller and fuzzy PI controller.As a result, the fuzzy PI controller can effectively improve the transient response characteristics and robustness of the double-ended active MMC-HVDC system and can improve the power quality at the same time.
