The UK Office of Science and Technology has just completed a project under its Foresight Programme to explore how science and technology might be applied over the next 20-50 years to the design and implementation of Intelligent Infrastructure Systems that are robust, sustainable and safe. The Foresight Intelligent Infrastructure project was cleared by in the United Kingdom by the Ministerial Committee on Science Policy in summer 2004 and announced on the Foresight website in September 2004. It is planned that the project will finish towards the end 2005 with a formal Political launch now scheduled for the 19th January 2005.
