Successful content research requires a marriage of the traditional skills of a systems research house and the creative and artistic talents of a multimedia publishing house. The prediction of new forms of mass interactive entertainment requires a close relationship with the evolution of the multimedia technology. Creating interactive drama raises major human and artistic challenges which also stretch today's technology. For the first time the spectator has potentially as much power as the writer or actors, thus striking at the basic assumptions in the traditional form of drama. Two approaches are contrasted, namely starting from the model of the film and the game, each of which have pros and cons.
