Communication signal coverage and stability can hardly be assured in part of central and western China, where natural disasters happen frequently. Affected by these disasters, communication base station and optical-fibre circuit are easily ruined during disasters. It is necessary to build a set of emergency communication network, which can organize by itself and run without reliance of established fixed base station, in order to release accident information and implement rescue. The network can provide steady and continuous transmitting communication services, and is applied for emergency appeal and accident information release. This system integrates hardware and software, known as "Mobile Ad hoc Network Node for Traffic Accident Rescue and Relief, abbreviated to MAN2TAR2. Experimental results indicate that MAN2TAR2 system has the following functions: topology change, join in network automatically, continuing transmission, multi-hop routing. This system adopts the IEEE 802.11 protocol, which can provide dozens of mega transmission bandwidth for top application. The multimedia information of image, voice and video can also be transmitted after high compression.
