With the advance of wireless personal communication, multimedia applications are becoming popular in mobile networks. Following this trend, we propose MSON, a multimedia service overlay networks. Based on SCTP, enabling large-scale live media application in ubiquitous environment. MSON is a comprehensive and scalable solution to flexibly compose media services and can provide QoS guarantees for the resulting contents. MSON consists of a collection of service proxy nodes (SvPs), on which a three-layer middleware is adopted to provide multimedia service functions. For organize the SvPs to find QoS-aware multicast paths in MSON, we presents a hierarchical QoS-aware multicast algorithm (HQMA). (4 pages)
