In order to determine a final architecture for the next generation mobile multimedia networks it is important to understand the benefits and drawbacks of the current mobile and IT networks, as well as the requirements to be placed on the new networks. This review forms the first part of this paper. Once the new network parameters have been determined it is possible to then elaborate an architecture that will fulfil these requirements. This discussion forms the final part of the paper. Evolution from existing mobile networks is possible for the proposed final architecture however this is not discussed in the paper.
