The paper describes activities within BT leading towards the introduction of screenphones, as one of the methods of accessing multimedia services. BT is looking for a global solution reflecting the economies of scale that result coupled with the increase in growth of international telecommunications. The screenphone is based on the analogue display services interface (ADSI) specification and will support the custom local access signalling system (CLASS) for caller display and related services.
