The introduction of distributed generation makes the distribution system more complex, such as meshed distribution systems and bidirectional power flow. As a result, the protection systems need to become more complex. Also, the topology of the distribution system may vary due to fault or maintenance of the line. However, the protection system needs to provide fast and accurate protection services regardless of the change of the distribution system topology, and various researches for that kind of problem are being conducted. In this paper, we will confirm the impact of the N-1 contingency on the protection system for future studies. In addition, we will compare the proposed methods with previous researches for providing accurate protection services regardless of the change of topology.
