It is necessary to make an accurate assessment on energy efficiency of industrial consumers before implementing an energy-saving scheme. Several existing evaluation methods on energy efficiency have been criticized for their inaccurate indices, limited access to data and strong subjectivity. In this context, a new comprehensive evaluation method is presented on the basis of electric parameters of industrial consumers. In the proposed method, the evaluation indices are based on electric parameters, which can be accurately measured and recorded by smart meters. The well-established principal component analysis (PCA) is next used to eliminate the inessential indices, and then to attain the final evaluation system. Then, the weights of all indices are calculated using the entropy weight method and subsequently the fuzzy evaluation method is employed considering the fuzziness of evaluation results. Finally, an actual example is served for demonstrating the feasibility and features of the proposed method.
