The superstrate independent to the linear polarization (LP) direction of an incident plane wave with high transmittance is proposed which is composed of a periodic array. In each unit cell of the periodic array, in addition to the slot antennas excited by a cavity, a pair of patch antennas is added on the front and back faces of the cavity to form the shared aperture. To validate the property of the structure, a prototype of 2x2 array operating at 12.296 GHz is designed and simulated. The simulated results indicate that the polarization control superstrate can convert linearly polarized plane wave with arbitrary polarization angle to x-polarized wave with transmittance higher than 80%.
