A novel Butler matrix is proposed. It consists of resonant stripline couplers without phase shifters nor crossings. In order to prove its working mechanism, it is used in a beam forming network (BFN) to drive a 2×2 array realized in multilayer PCB technology. A prototype has been built and measured.
Inspec keywords: strip line couplers; array signal processing; matrix algebra; beam steering; antenna arrays; printed circuits
Subjects: Antenna arrays; Waveguide and microwave transmission line components; Signal processing and detection; Algebra; Printed circuits
