In this study, the uplink performance of Sigfox and LoRa is evaluated in a controlled propagation environment (reverberation chamber). This evaluation is performed in terms of packet error rate as a function of calibrated path loss, which allows a direct comparison of the performance of both systems under the exact same propagation conditions. The analysis of the results show that the proposed setup and testing methodology can be useful for comparing the many new wireless IoT technologies in a practical setting.
