This work presents the design and realization of high gain planar VSAT antennas operating in Ka band based on modulated metasurfaces (MTSs). In these antennas, a surface wave excited by a central coplanar feed is transformed into a radiative leaky wave through the interaction with a modulated impedance boundary condition implemented by a MTS. A receiving and a transmitting aperture, with directivities higher than 31dB and 39dB, respectively, are designed, realized and experimentally characterized.
