The multifunction phased array is at present the best choice for the new generation air-to-air missile guidance system. The use of a phased array allows to have the benefits of the electronic scanning. In this paper, a novel dual-band phased array in the C/Ka-bands with wideband and wide-angle scanning capability is designed in the radar seeker application. A new tapered slot antenna (TSA) is used for the array design. The novel antenna is optimized by wizardly grooves and notches on the patch for wideband and wide-angle radiation. Simulation results show that the Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) of the antennas are below 1.6 at the two frequency bands, and wide-angle scanning up to a maximum of 60° can be achieved in this dual-band phased array.
