World Health Organization (WHO) technical specifications for priority medical devices have been developed by WHO and WHO technical advisory group, trade associations and United Nations agencies. WHO technical specifications for 74 medical devices are a part of WHO challenges to improve access quality and use of safe and appropriate medical devices through better procurement. This paper describes the background and overview of WHO technical specifications project.
