The radar cross section (RCS) of a target is the ratio of the power (per unit solid angle) scattered by the target in the direction of the radar receive antenna to the power density (per square meter) incident on the target. RCS, usually represented by σ, has the dimension of area, is usually specified in square meters, and is often described in decibels relative to a one square meter, indicated by dBsm or dBm2.
