An adaptive-logic network is tested on a simulated routing problem. A dual adaptive process is proposed; adaptation of the network logic elements is used to find solutions of the routing problem, and then the size of the network is increased adaptively, to increase the number of such solutions found.

It is shown how to construct transfer functions of digital filters by means of numerical solution of a certain integral equation, the result of which is the response of a continuous filter to an input signal. For bandpasses with zero transmission for zero frequency this method preserves this zero also for the corresponding digital filter.

An approximation, valid over a limited region of the s plane, is given to a single path in a multivariable system. The inference of system instability from instability of this approximate transfer function is discussed, and it is shown that it is not sufficient for the approximation to be valid over a region of the real-frequency axis alone. This point is demonstrated by an example.

The pertinent forward and reverse transient characteristics of a tunnel diode for a ramp input are analytically investigated. A comparison with the results of a step input shows that the slope of the trigger pulse greatly affects the initial development of the process. The results for a linear piecewise approximation are also presented to estimate the deviation from the actual results.

A sampling theorem for sequency-limited functions is proved. It is shown that the reconstruction procedure is trivially simple when the signal is sampled at a rate 2Z, where Z is of the form 2k, k integer, equal to, or greater than, the sequency bandwidth in zeros/s. Harmuth's contention that the rate 2Z is sufficient for any Z is thus shown to be invalid for this type of reconstruction.
