An investigation has been made of the effect of an axial magnetic field on the microwave properties of a magnesium–manganese ferrite in the 8–9 mm waveband. Using cylindrical ferrite samples in circular guide propagating plane polarization, measurements were made of the insertion loss, reflection coefficients, Faraday rotation and ellipticity produced by the ferrite. On the basis of these measurements, some simple ferrite devices were designed and their performances measured.
