The paper describes an experimental investigation into the behaviour of a cage induction motor with a statically eccentric rotor. The experimental equipment used allowed for the variation of the eccentricity and the direct measurement of the unbalanced magnetic pull. The effects of parallel connections of the stator windings and the damping nature of the cage rotor are investigated. The results are used to verify the accuracy of an analytical model derived elsewhere and the correlation between the measured and predicted UMP is found to be good.
