An analogue optical phase-locked loop technique called single side sub-carrier phase-locked loop was tested in a 10 Gbit/s real-time coherent BPSK experiment. It was experimentally demonstrated that the novel technique allows use of a 6 GHz electrical voltage controlled oscillator to perform a 10 Gbit/s BPSK analogue coherent detection.
