Abstract

An effective technique for the evaluation of the field scattered by large, smooth PEC profiles, based on the method of auxiliary sources is proposed. A criterion for positioning source and test point, a typical issue of this method, is proposed, showing that the scattering problem can be solved by using a number of unknowns slightly greater than two per wavelength, essentially coincident with the number of degrees of freedom of the scattered field. 2D numerical examples are presented and discussed.
