A report is presented, for the first time to the authors' knowledge, on the implementation of microwave photonic filters with an arbitrary number of positive and negative coefficients using phase inversion in an SOA based XGM wavelength converter. A five-tap filter is experimentally demonstrated featuring tunability and reconfigurability.
