A fast response non-mechanically operated all-fibre polarisation controller is developed which uses the high-efficiency flint-glass-fibre Faraday rotator. The −3 dB frequency response is 800 Hz and the polarisation conversion between linear and right- or left-handed circular polarisation is accomplished by the change in the control current from 0 to about ±5 A.
