Abstract

A 40 Gbit/s all-optical XOR gate that uses a novel topology to allow high-speed operation is demonstrated. The gate used is a Mach-Zehnder interferometer comprising a hybrid-integrated planar silica waveguide structure and semiconductor optical amplifiers.
