A new low loss groove design for athermal silica-based AWG multi/demultiplexers is proposed. The insertion loss was < 3.2 dB with an excess loss of 0.4 dB. The temperature dependence of the channel wavelength change was suppressed to be below 2.5 GHz in the 0–85°C range.
