A new high capacity, reservation-based switch architecture for ATM/WDM networks is presented. The scheme is contention-free and highly flexible yielding a powerful solution for high-speed broadband packet-switched networks. Switching management and control are studied for data rates of up to 10 Gbit/s/port, providing and aggregated throughput of over 1 Tbit/s.
