The authors describe and compare techniques which estimate the reverse link channel to set up beamformer weights for antenna array transmission in a code division multiple access (CDMA) system using frequency division duplex (FDD). The results show that a single transmission is more efficient than splitting the power between multiple transmissions, but the algorithms degrade when the angle spread is wide.
