A hollow waveguide whose bore size is 250 µm in diameter is fabricated by depositing a dielectric and a metal layer inside a thin-wall silica tube. This small bore waveguide has an advantage over the larger bore guides in that it maintains a nearly pure HE11 mode of a CO2 laser even when it is bent to small radii.
