A new approach to the simulation of a matched load for the characterisation of multiport passive microstrip structures is introduced. The approach, implemented with the integral equation technique and the method of moments, numerically simulates a matched load termination at an output port of a microstrip structure and allows the full determination of S parameters through simple postprocessing of the standing wave at the input side. Its implementation, computed results, and experimental verification for some microstrip structures are presented in the Letter.
