A very-high-speed bipolar multiplexer for optical-fibre transmission systems is described, which operates at up to above lOGbit/s. This is the highest operating speed of monolithic integrated demultiplexers reported to date. The circuit was realised in a self-aligning double-polysilicon BICMOS technology with 1.5μm lithography.
