An optical fibre that can couple more than 80% of the power from a 100 μm-wide 10-stripe diode laser array to a 50 μm core diameter and 0.3 NA optical fibre is demonstrated. Output powers of 850 mWCW and 2.8 W pulsed (200 ns pulse width at 10 kHz repetition rate) are achieved from the output end of the fibre.
