access icon free Compact dual-band frequency selective surface designed for global system for mobile communications system

In this Letter, a compact dual-band frequency selective surface (FSS) with the smallest size of 0.047λ 0 × 0.047λ 0 for global system for mobile communication system is proposed. This FSS element is composed of two 2.5D square loops, which creates two stop bands resonating at 940 and 1820 MHz with −18 dB bandwidth of 105 and 208 MHz, respectively. Besides, the proposed FSS performs a stable frequency response under different incident angles for the horizontal polarised electric field (transverse electric mode) and vertically polarised electric field (transverse magnetic mode). The detailed design process is illustrated in the Letter. To confirm the full-wave simulation results, a prototype is fabricated and the measured results show good agreements with the simulated ones.
