An analytical method is presented for calculating the shielding effectiveness (SE) of an enclosure with a horizontal curved edges aperture. Based on the transmission line theory, the horizontal curved edges aperture is treated as many short coplanar strip transmission lines connected in series. Then the equivalent impedance of the curved edges aperture is calculated by the iterative formula proposed in this Letter. Submitting the equivalent impedance into the existing equivalent circuit, the SE of the enclosure with a horizontal curved edges aperture can be calculated efficiently and precisely. The proposed method was validated with measurements and the transmission line matrix algorithm.
